What do you love about Earth?

Often we take the Earth for granted as we waste resources and release toxins into the air. It seems that we are destroying the Earth that provides us with a means to live, so maybe its time to show the Earth some love back.

Here are some simple ideas for how you can take care of the earth.
One way you can help the environment is by switching to Eco friendly products that are kinder to the earth and can also help save you a lot of money.
How about changing your diet to live a healthier lifestyle, to take care of your body as well as the Earth.
Another easy tip is to make sure you switch off any lights or appliances that may not be in use.

Shuffle Festival

Shuffle Festival

Living in Tower Hamlets means we have access to the local cemetery, which may not seem entirely exciting, but it is also home to the Sloane's Center. The Center is a great way for people to engage with the local nature and it can be a great insight to Ecologism. We decided to explore for ourselves with an exclusive back stage tour before the Shuffle Festival. The annual festival that takes place in Tower hamlets Cemetery Park is based around exploring the forestry and natural surroundings of the park. Amreen persuaded the event organisers to allow us a view of the area before the event began. We got to explore into the woods and get a feel of nature.  This gave us an insight in to ecologism, mankind and nature connecting together. We understood the reasons why ecologists are so critical of industrialisation and how it can ruin a beautiful place like we visited.

What is Ecologism?

Ecologism is an ideological theory based on the idea of a relationship between mankind and nature. It reflects on how society’s connection to nature is taken for granted. Ecologism created a link with political ideologies when the industrialisation too places. Ecoligists' are critical of industrialisation as it destroys the connection between the people and nature. During the end of 1970s, Ecologism had theoretically developed into three main parts.  The first was the environmentalist approach that highlights the concerns around the environment and ways to stop it degrading. The second the recognition of a threat to the environment. Anthropocentrism. This is the belief that humans needs and interests should be prioritised. Lastly the emergence of the idea of ‘deep ecology’, which is an ideology that rejects anthropocentrism and prioritises maintenance of nature, which is associated with diversity and much more.
